Bible Reading: Revelation 5: 6 – 14

Song: He is Worthy

Do you feel the world is broken? (We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen? (We do)
But do you know that all the dark won't stop the light from getting through? (We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)

Is all creation groaning? (It is)
Is a new creation coming? (It is)
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst? (It is)
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? (It is)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave He was David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is

Does the Father truly love us? (He does)
Does the Spirit move among us? (He does)
And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves? (He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us? (He does)

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David's root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe
Every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
To reign with the Son

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Is He worthy of this?
He is!
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
He is! He is!

Almighty God, with joy and praise,

with awe and wonder,

with gladness and celebration

we bring our Easter worship

We lift up our hearts and our voices

recognising afresh all you have done for us in Christ

speak to us again today

through all we read, all we hear,

all we sing and all we do.  Amen

Song: Oh, to see the dawn

Of the darkest day,

Christ on the road to Calvary.

Tried by sinful men,

Torn and beaten, then,

Nailed to a cross of wood.

This, the power of the cross;
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath -
We stand forgiven at the cross.

O to see the pain,
Written on the face,
Bearing the awesome

weight of sin.
Every bitter thought,
Every evil deed,
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

This, the power of the cross;

Christ became sin for us.

Took the blame, bore the wrath

We stand forgiven at the cross.

Now the daylight flees,
Now the ground beneath,
Quakes as its Maker

bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life,
'Finished!' the victory cry.

This, the power of the cross;

Christ became sin for us.T

ook the blame, bore the wrath

We stand forgiven at the cross.

O to see my name,
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death,
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

This, the power of the cross;

Christ became sin for us.

Took the blame, bore the wrath

We stand forgiven at the cross.

Bible Reading: John 20: 1 - 10

This is the Good News –

The grave is empty,

Christ is risen.

HALLELUJAH

This is the Good News –

The light shines in the darkness

And the darkness can never put it out.

HALLELUJAH

This is the Good News –

Once we were no people,

Now we are God’s people

HALLELUJAH

Hymn: Jesus Christ is risen today,        Alleluia!

our triumphant holy day;                       Alleluia!

who did once upon the cross                Alleluia!

suffer to redeem our loss.                      Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing          Alleluia!

Unto Christ our heavenly king;             Alleluia!

who endured the cross and grave       Alleluia!

sinners to redeem and save!                 Alleluia!

But the pains which He endured          Alleluia!

our salvation have procured;                Alleluia!

Now in heaven above He’s king           Alleluia!

where the angels ever sing.                  Alleluia!

Renewal of Baptismal promises and Act of dedication

To follow Christ means dying to sin and rising to new life with him.  Therefore, I ask:

Do you reject the devil and all rebellion against God?

All:         I reject them.

Do you renounce the deceit and corruption of evil?

All:         I renounce them.

Do you repent of the sin that separate us from God and neighbour?

All:         I repent of them.

Do you turn to Christ as Saviour?

All:         I turn to Christ.

Do you submit to Christ as Lord?

All:         I submit to Christ.

Do you come to Christ, the way, the truth and the life?

All:         I come to Christ.

May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith, that you may be rooted and grounded in love and bring forth the fruit of the Spirit.   Amen.

Song: In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Bible Reading: John 20: 19 - 23

Lord, God

Early in the morning,

When the world was young, you made life in all its beauty;

You gave birth to all that we know.

Hallowed be your name

Hallowed be your name

Early in the morning,

When the world least expected it,

A newborn child lying in a manger

announced that you had come among us, that you were one with us.

Hallowed be your name

Hallowed be your name

Early in the morning,

Surrounded by respectable liars,

religious leaders, anxious statesmen

and silent friends, you accepted the penalty thart should have been ours

for you alone are good,

You shouldered and suffered the cross in our place.

Hallowed be your name

Hallowed be your name

Early in the morning,

A voice in a guarded graveyard

and footsteps in the dew testified that you had risen, overcoming death

for those who had forgotten you, denied you and destroyed you, or had never loved you at all.

Hallowed be your name

Hallowed be your name

Lord Jesus

In the company of tribes and tongues from every nation that is your Church on earth and in heaven,

we celebrate your creation, your life, your death and resurrection, your grace, mercy and love towards us.

So we pray,

Lord, bring new life, where we are worn and tired,

New love, where we have turned hard-hearted,

Forgiveness, where we feel hurt and where we have wounded,

and the joy and freedom of your Holy Spirit,

where we are prisoners of ourselves.

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.

Amen.

Prayer

Hymn: Thine be the glory
Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won
Angels in bright raiment
Rolled the stone away
Kept the folded grave clothes
Where Thy body lay

Thine be the glory

Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou over death hast won

Lo, Jesus meets us
Risen from the tomb
Lovingly He greets us
Scatters fear and gloom
Let the church with gladness
Hymns of triumph sing
For her Lord now liveth
Death has lost its sting

Thine be the glory

Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou over death hast won

No more we doubt Thee
Glorious Prince of life
Life is nought without The
Aid us in our strife
Make us more than conquerors
Through Thy deathless love
Lead us in Thy triumph
To Thy home above

Thine be the glory

Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou over death hast won
