Morning Service
Confident in Christ’s example

Welcome

Word of Scripture

Romans 8:14-16 TPT

The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we gather in Your name with grateful hearts. As we begin this service, we invite Your holy presence to fill this place. Let every word spoken and every song lifted bring glory to Your name. Open our hearts to receive from You today and let Your Spirit move freely among us.

Let Your fire ignite our faith and draw us closer to you,

unite us in love, and let Your peace rest upon every soul here Lord,

we surrender this entire service to Your leading.

Have Your way among us today.

Song

We stand and lift up our hands

For the joy of the Lord is our strength

We bow down and worship Him now

How great how awesome is He

And together we sing

Ev'ryone sing

Holy is the Lord God Almighty

The earth is filled with His glory

Holy is the Lord God Almighty

The earth is filled with His glory

The earth is filled with His glory

It is rising up all around

It's the anthem of the Lord's renown

It's rising up all around

It's the anthem of the Lord's renown

Song

Bless the Lord O my soul O my soul

Worship His holy name

Sing like never before O my soul

I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up it's a new day dawning

It's time to sing Your song again

Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me

Let me be singing when the evening comes

You're rich in love and You're slow to anger

Your name is great and Your heart is kind

For all Your goodness I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing

The end draws near and my time has come

Still my soul will sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Sing like never before O my soul

I'll worship Your holy name

Worship Your holy name

Worship Your holy name

Confession

Come, Holy Spirit, into my soul. Show us our sins, both the wrong that we did and the good we failed to do. Give us the grace to be sorry for our sins out of love for God, so that through confession our souls might be healed and strengthened to do good. Amen

God of everlasting love,

we confess that we have been unfaithful to our covenant with you and with one another.

We have worshipped other gods: money, power, greed, and convenience.

We have served our own self-interest instead of serving only you and your people.

We have not loved our neighbour as you have commanded, nor have we rightly loved ourselves.

Forgive us, gracious God, and bring us back into the fullness of our covenant with you and one another.

Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Song

Create in me a clean heart O God

And renew a right spirit within me

Cast me not away from Thy presence

And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me

Restore unto me the joy of salvation

And renew a right spirit within me

Create in me a clean heart O God

And renew a right spirit within me

Song

There is a Redeemer

Jesus God's own Son

Precious Lamb of God Messiah

Holy One

Thank You O my Father

For giving us Your Son

And leaving Your Spirit

Till the work on earth is done

Jesus my Redeemer

name above all names

Precious Lamb of God Messiah

O for sinners slain

When I stand in glory

I will see His face

There I'll serve my King forever

In that holy place

Prayer

Speak to us clearly, correct us lovingly, and strengthen our faith through Scripture.

May Your Word bring hope, healing, and transformation today

Sermon:  Dominic Newstead

Song

There is a hope that burns within my heart

That gives me strength for ev'ry passing day

A glimpse of glory now revealed in meagre part

Yet drives all doubt away

I stand in Christ with sins forgiv'n

And Christ in me the hope of heav'n

My highest calling and my deepest joy

To make His will my home

There is a hope that lifts my weary head

A consolation strong against despair

That when the world has plunged

me in its deepest pit

I find the Saviour there

Through present suff'rings future's fear

He whispers courage in my ear

For I am safe in everlasting arms

And they will lead me home

There is a hope that stands the test of time

That lifts my eyes beyond the beck'ning grave

To see the matchless beauty of a day divine

When I behold His face

When suff'rings cease and sorrows die

And ev'ry longing satisfied

Then joy unspeakable will flood my soul

For I am truly home

Affirmation of Faith

Let us affirm our faith in God

We believe in God the Father,

from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son,

who lives in our hearts through faith, and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit,

who strengthens us with power from on high.

We believe in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen

Prayers of Intercession

led by Patrick Lambert

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.

Amen.

Offertory Prayer

Heavenly Father, you have given us riches beyond measure.

We can only return a fraction of what we owe you;

but we ask, Lord,

that you will bless our offerings

and help us to use them wisely in your service

and for your glory. Amen

The children return from their activities.

Closing Prayer

Holy Spirit Prayer of St. Augustine

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,

that my thoughts may all be holy.

Move in me, Holy Spirit,

that my work, too, may be holy.

Attract my heart, Holy Spirit,

that I may love only what is holy.

Strengthen me, Holy Spirit,

that I may defend all that is holy.

Protect me, Holy Spirit,

that I may always be holy.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Cor. 13:14.)
