Sunday 25th February
Service of the Word

St Joseph's Church

As Lent is the time for greater love, listen to Jesus’ thirst…He knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.”                                     St. Teresa of Calcutta

Opening Prayer

Give me eyes to see how you are at work in every one of my circumstances.

Lord, give me perseverance to increase my understanding of you.

Give me a hunger to read your Word and to seek to know you more each day.

Just as the dawn comes with its exact precision, help me to trust that You will also move in my life, in your perfect timing and in your beautiful way. In your name I pray, Amen.

Bless the Lord O my soul O my soul

Worship His holy name

Sing like never before O my soul

I'll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up it's a new day dawning

It's time to sing Your song again

Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me

Let me be singing when the evening comes

You're rich in love and You're slow to anger

Your name is great and Your heart is kind

For all Your goodness I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing

The end draws near and my time has come

Still my soul will sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord

Our God You reign forever

Our Hope our strong Deliv'rer

You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God

You do not faint, You won't grow weary.

You're the defender of the weak

You comfort those in need

You lift us up on wings like eagles

The Bible in 50 Words

Children leave for their groups

God of grace, we confess that we have elevated the things of this world above you.

We have made idols of possessions and people and used your name for causes that are not consistent with you and your purposes.

We have permitted our schedules to come first and have not taken the time to worship you.

We have not always honoured those who guided us in life. We have been unfaithful in our covenant relationships.

We have yearned for, and sometimes taken, that which is not ours, and we have misrepresented others’ intentions.

We are sorry.

Forgive us, O God, for the many ways we fall short of your glory.

Help us to learn to live together according to your ways through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

I love You Lord

Oh Your mercy never fails me

All my days

I've been held in Your hands

From the moment that I wake up

Until I lay my head

I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful

All my life You have been so so good

With every breath that I am able

I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice

You have led me through the fire

In darkest night

You are close like no other

I've known You as a father

I've known You as a friend

I have lived in the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after,

It’s running after me

Your goodness is running after

It’s running after me

With my life laid down

I’m surrendered now

I give You everything

Your goodness is running after

It's running after me

Hide me now under Your wings

Cover me within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar

I will soar with You above the storm

Father You are King over the flood

I will be still and know You are God

Find rest my soul in Christ alone

Know His power in quietness and trust

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory
are yours, now and forever.

Church Family News

Come people of the Risen King

Who delight to bring Him praise

Come all and tune your hearts to sing

To the Morning Star of grace

From the shifting shadows of the earth

We will lift our eyes to Him

Where steady arms of mercy reach

To gather children in

Rejoice rejoice let ev'ry tongue rejoice

One heart one voice

O Church of Christ rejoice

Come those whose joy is morning sun

And those weeping through the night

Come those who tell of battles won

And those struggling in the fight

For His perfect love will never change

And His mercies never cease

But follow us through all our days

With the certain hope of peace

Come young and old from ev'ry land

Men and women of the faith

Come those with full or empty hands

Find the riches of His grace

Over all the world His people sing

Shore to shore we hear them call

The truth that cries through ev'ry age

Our God is all in all

Closing prayer

Dear God, we pray that You would grant us the ability to prioritize intentional rest and relaxation on the Sabbath. In this fast-paced world, it is often challenging to find time to slow down and be still in Your presence.

Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and discipline to set aside this sacred time for rejuvenation and spiritual renewal. Help us to resist the pull of worldly distractions and prioritize our relationship with You. May we find rest in Your loving arms and experience the joy of reconnecting with our souls.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your grace and unconditional love. In Jesus Name we pray.
